Between nature and castles

Guided hike along the Avre. Montigny and Courteilles are located on either side of this river which marked the border between the Anglo-Norman duchy and the kingdom of France in the Middle Ages. On each bank, castles were built, first as places of defense, then as places of pleasure. Discover the history of the ephemeral Château de Courteilles, which disappeared less than a century after its construction. Then that of the Château de Montigny, a delicate XNUMXth century architecture. Finally, learn how the villages developed around these mansions. During this visit, you will enter the church of Montigny and that of Courteilles, usually closed to the public.
