Former border city between France and Normandy, Verneuil d'Avre and d'Iton reveals its riches to you.
Spared by the bombings of the Second World War, Verneuil d'Avre and Iton has character. Its religious character is built around the Ste-Madeleine church, 56 m high and in flamboyant Gothic style, and the St-Jean and St-Nicolas churches. The Norman complexes of half-timbered houses, the sumptuous 18th century mansions. give an additional charm to the city. The Gray Tower built by Philippe Auguste is made of grison, a red stone typical of the region. The ditches of this ancient fortified city were filled with water thanks to the diversion of the Iton, by the digging of a "forced arm".

The Normandy Sud Eure Tourist Office offers a program of guided tours every school holiday (see our calendar). On-demand tours are also possible for groups and individuals (determine the day and time that suits you subject to guide availability).
