Labeled Villes et Villages Fleuris, Damville is a small Norman town of character, nestled in the Iton valley, halfway between Evreux and Verneuil-sur-Avre. The remains of its feudal motte, located in the heart of the city, testify to its identity as a Norman fortress in the XNUMXth century. Its church, listed as a Historic Monument, its hall, its washhouses and its bourgeois houses, invite you to take a walk.

Damville was probably one of the sources of inspiration for Jacques Villon, whose birthplace is still visible on Rue de Verdun. This artist engraver marked the spirits of his time with his talent in cubism and abstract impressionism. It is also in their small house in Damville that Marc Cluizel, son of a baker apprentice in chocolate, and his future wife Marcelle, confectioner, will begin the great adventure of the Manufacture Cluizel.
