In the Iton valley, explore the history of a Norman seigneury.
Between Conches-en-Ouche and Verneuil-sur-Avre, discover the Château de Chambray and its collection of stately buildings. The main body of the building dates from the 16th and 18th centuries. From the 15th century, only the entrance postern and the chapel remain. The whole was remodeled in the 19th century by Jacques de Chambray. Around the castle, there is a dovecote, an old press, an arboretum, a 32 ha park, in which a small chartreuse was built in 1740. The castle was given in 1944 by the last Marquis de Chambray to the Ministry of l 'Agriculture. Today, the estate is home to an agricultural high school and a training center.
Free access to the exterior of the estate and its outbuildings. Stroll along the river (Sensitive Natural Area) at the foot of the castle and trail in the forest behind the castle.
Guided tours of the interior of the castle, its chapel, its dovecote and its vegetable garden according to a calendar of events available on the CREE Chambray website.
