Near Verneuil d'Avre and d'Iton, discover a church with exceptional decoration.
Listed as a Historic Monument in 1862, the Saint Hilaire church is located in a place marked by the history of Normandy. Located on the border line between the Kingdom of France and the Norman Duchy, Tillières-sur-Avre was erected as a stronghold, at the heart of the power struggles between the French and the Normans, then the English. Preserved over the centuries, this Romanesque church built in the 11th century and enlarged in the 16th has magnificent Renaissance ceilings with skilfully crafted dangling keys and adorned with polychrome coats of arms.
