In Breteuil, discover a church whose origins date back to the beginnings of Normandy.
This Romanesque-style church was built in the 11th century in a beautiful stone called “grison du pays d'Ouche”, which gives it an original character. It was donated around the middle of the 11th century by one of William the Conqueror's main collaborators at his Lyre abbey. Made up of a long cross-shaped nave, it houses a 14th century organ case listed in the inventory of historical monuments, with a polychrome wooden frame and historiated to the most beautiful effect. It is in this church that was celebrated in the 11th century the marriage of Adèle, the daughter of William the Conqueror with the count of Blois.
