Walking

This circuit runs along part of the Avre and crosses the grounds of the old castle where the Marquis de Courteilles lived. Alexandrine-Rosalie, the wife of the Duke of Richelieu, lived there separated from her husband. She is buried in the cemetery of the village church. The heiresses, overwhelmed with debts, sold in 1849 to two speculators who immediately had three quarters of the castle demolished in order to sell the materials. The ruins of the estate and its outbuildings have been listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments since 1976.
