Your itinerary

Verneuil d'Avre et d'Iton (rue Clémenceau)

1

Step 1

The start is on rue Clemenceau, near the town hall roundabout. With your back to the starting sign, start crossing the street and climb up the linden tree alley overlooking the river. Take the rue Gustave Roger on the right, cross the place Aristide Briand and go down the rue de la fontaine minérale to the left. After the bridge, turn right on the track of the ditches. Turn left on rue du moulin de la tour. Turn left, Place de la Fontaine du Chêne, to pass in front of the washhouse at Petit Versailles. Continue on the ditches circuit on the right to arrive on the route de la Ferté Vidame. Follow her carefully to the left.
Cross the RN 12 at the traffic lights (be careful, very busy road!)
Follow this road to the left behind the safety rails. Turn immediately right towards the hamlet of Saint Martin. At the hamlet entrance sign, take the upper road, then follow it to the left and immediately to the right to pass in front of the Saint Martin cemetery. Pass the Chemin du Vieux Verneuil. Turn left in the chemin des près de Saint Martin. At the crossroads, go straight on the dirt road and continue on the Baudry road.
2

Step 2

At the Calvary, follow the dirt track to the left then fork to the left after a small wood. Continue on the road to the left and cross the Breuil. Turn right then left to walk along the fences of the sources of the Avre aqueduct. Go down the path to the right and cross the river. Climb into the woods. Continue on the road straight ahead, and to the right towards Le Gland. At Le Fétu, go up to the left to reach the RD 54.
3

Step 3

Go right towards Courteilles. Go down the 1st road on the right towards the Maisons Rouges. After crossing several branches of the Avre, turn right onto the D316. After 1 km along the Avre, enter the woods on the left.
4

Step 4

At the crossroads, turn right until you reach the road. There, go to the left and cross the bridge. At the fork, veer to the right. Take the road immediately to the right, without crossing the D 939. Cross the valley. Arrived at the church of Rueil, take the road to the left, and to the right to pass in front of the cemetery where the tomb of Maurice de Vlaminck is located. Cross the D 939 and take the path opposite.
5

Step 5

Turn left, then right after the bridge between the fences. Cut the D 25 to continue opposite. After the wood, turn to the right, cross the stream of Buternay to reach the castle of Puisaye.
6

Step 6

At the crossroads, go straight ahead and, after the old gatehouse, turn left. On the road, go to the left. Cross the D 839 and go down to the left. Follow the same path as on the way to the washhouse at Petit Versailles. Turn right into rue du moulin de la tour, immediately after the wash house. Cross the forced arm of the Iton on the footbridge on the left to reach the Gray Tower. Take rue Notre-Dame to the left, then go up rue du Canon on the right. At the turret house (library), turn left on rue de la Madeleine, then, after a few beautiful mansions, turn right on rue des Moulettes, to reach Place de la Madeleine, which you cross. Go to the left. Take rue Clémenceau to the right to return to the starting point.
