The name of the Neuve-Lyre probably comes from the Latinized name of the Risle “Flavius LIRIZINUS”. Lira… .for Lyre and Ricilina for La Risle. It was only at the end of the Middle Ages that the spelling of the musical instrument “the lyre” appeared. This 8 km circuit allows walkers to become aware of the importance of hydraulic energy at the beginning of the 20th century which allowed the metallurgical factories of this valley to experience a certain prosperity. In the lower village, on the Risle bridge, there are two lyres incorporated into the parapets.
