Walking

The Hiking Federation published in April 2012 a topoguide on the GR du Mont Saint Michel. 549 km of marked trails (over 30 days) link Paris to Mont Saint Michel, via the GR22, following among other things the Avre valley and passing through Verneuil-sur-Avre. A variant of 208 km connects Verneuil to Domfront by the north, it is the historical route of the pilgrims of Mont-Saint-Michel. This guidebook is on sale at the tourist office in Verneuil-sur-Avre.

Erratum: a modification of the GR22 route was made in the field in August 2015 in Verneuil-sur-Avre. In order to cross the N12 safely, the markings take you to the hamlet of Saint Martin and cross the main road at the crossroads (route de la Ferté Vidame) with traffic lights. It then takes you back to the heart of the city towards the route described in the topographical guide.

Accommodations reported in the guide have closed since the topo guide was published. Contact the Tourist Office (02 32 32 17 17 or [email protected]) in order to find new addresses.
